Falls Festival ~ New Years 2014

Sun-drenched days, balmy nights dancing under the stars, glitter showers & so much colour pop, be-jewelled faces & stand out dirty jewels – Aussie Summer festivals have blossomed into something gloriously like a Bollywood film.
Festival dressing in the heat can be a hard task, how can you do festival chic in the most minimal way possible!? You chicks seriously nailed it! In the mid-afternoon sun Falls saw chicks dancing in the dusty fields in vibrant printed mini dresses, crochet crops layered with jewel after jewel & paired with their dirtiest rocker boots. Floating through the festival in your bright flowing maxi skirts (tied up for dancing) & matching printed sets. A few recently iconic Spell pieces were styled back perfectly for the occasion – the Havana Crochet Mini (or maxi) & the Wild Ones Gown, and if it wasn’t bright colour it was all white in their Fleetwood lace (I love a chick who’s not afraid to get her whites dusty as hell at a festival!)
Falls Festival is my favourite festival of the year & for two years in a row now it has been the perfect way to welcome the new year. Dancing hill-side with all your fave people and getting showered in glitter as midnight rolls toward you, all just a wee drive out of our home town of Byron. The music highlights for me? Vintage Hip-Hop legends Salt & Pepper got us moving, LA rockers Cold War Kids were the perfect way to spend the first afternoon of 2015 & Electro-Pop Legend SBTRKT was incredible at getting the crowd up for the last night of magical festival dancing.
Chicks, you never fail to inspire me with the way you throw outfits together for these iconic Byron festivals. Bohemian, psychedelic & a whole lotta’ rock chick cool – I draw so much of my personal style from festivals and this was no exception – is it OK to cover my face in jewels & wear dirty boots for work tomorrow? Welcoming 2015, you were the best yet. Until next year Falls… (or if you’re like me and cant wait, Splendour’s only 6 months away!)
