A vintage tee worked back with floral, the classic boyfriend jean with an outrageous fur jacket, layers of lace, silk & leather over leopard print, throw all this on with gumboots, dancing in muddy fields and we have Splendour In the Grass 2013. This year Spell set up shop in the ‘very small mall’ (a little makeshift mall right in the heart of the festival) to get involved in the muddy, dreamy, festival action. We loved every second of it.

Sunny skies welcomed day 1, which also meant sunflower prints, flower crowns, tassel vests on lace crops. The Spell pop up store saw girls leave wearing some sort of leather, tassel or turquoise goodness as they adorned themselves in some of our best festival gear. A young Kate Moss headed up a miss-mash Inspiration wall of magazine cut-outs and print offs of our fave blog images. LA girl band Haim rocked out & English folk band Mumford & Sons set the super top on fire to close.

On day 2, I got the tassels of my Spell ‘Born to be Wild’ bag a little muddy as I ran between bands early in the day. As the sun went behind the clouds late in the afternoon and as the evening rolled on New York trio MS MR took to the stage. As the cool Winter evening kicked in girls flocked in between stage runs to grab their ‘evening festival attire’ – it was so awesome seeing everyone dash back to the main stage decked out in Spell winter woolies.

I trekked through the morning mud to grab a coffee early on day 3, the rain in the morning soon cleared and the festival become a delightful sunny, dreamy, muddy mess. Our signature peacock chair become a bit of a resting spot for punters as many of our new festival friends came for their final visit. Faces were painted with specs of glitter as Splendour delivered a day to remember in music with the best festival line up we’d seen. Alt-J raising the roof off the Supertop & Lorde (who was called in last minute to replace Frank Ocean) absolutely killed it as one of the best live singers I’ve ever seen!

Spell’s first Splendour was a complete blur of tasselled robes, loud music, gumboot dancing, muddy maxi dresses and even muddier white lace, mid day champagnes, rock chick leather, feathered headpieces & pure happiness. Splendour, you’ll be seeing us next year.

Oh, and a big thanks to all the happy punters who let us snap them in their festival gear!! It’s always a bit daunting to go up to strangers at a festival so thanks for all the smiles and good vibes ; )
